Description: Sidney Wood, a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, was ranked in the world’s top ten five times between 1931 and 1938. He was the youngest men’s singles competitor at the age of 15 in 1927. He also holds the distinction of being the only player to ever win Wimbledon by default, when Frank Shields sprained a knee in the semis and pulled out of the finals in 1931. Wood went on to win the APTA National Championships in 1950.
